January 14, 2005It's nice to watch the look on other drivers faces as they are turning around at the flooded spot in the road, when I put the truck in 4X4 and drive right on through. They sure get a silly look on their faces. We've got some serious flooding around here recently. I've had some fun muddin' just getting in and out of the fields where I run my traplines!

January 14, 2005w00t! Excellent. Wheel anytime you can find time...even if you have to do it while you are working!
January 14, 2005yeah people are amazed. ive went through this flooded road before and the water got up to almost about the headlights, i about chickened out and backed out but to many people were watching and just floored it through, i went down the street came back and there was a cop parked there to keep people out, i pulled over and asked if i can go through it again. he told me no cause then everyone else is gonna try it too.
January 15, 2005I did turn around and go back once last week. Didn't even go into the water at all. It was at a bridge where I've put my canoe in before to run the river. Water was rushing so fast across the road it was crazy. A kid there on a 4-wheeler said he went in about 3-4 feet and the current started moving him sideways so he backed out. I said "you know, that water is moving fast enough some of that road might be gone now" and he said "wow, never even thought about that" Anyway, figured I didn't want to be the one to find out!
January 15, 2005we have a one lane bridge going back to my house. with all the rain we've had lately, the water is flowing over it pretty good. since i'm usually running late, i go over the bridge, water or not. the maintenance guy had a mutual friend call me and "suggest" that i go around. after ignoring their suggestion, they now barracade the bridge when it floods. they seem to think that i'll get stuck..... maybe, maybe not.....
January 15, 2005Let me just say one thing here: If it's barracaded and says Road Closed due to High Water, don't go around. I've gotten a ticket already for driving on a road that the water wasn't even up to my hubs. The cop said "We don't want to have to perform a water rescue if something would happen to somebody". Even though the water was about 8-10" deep, and there wasn't ANY current flowing at all.
