#2. If I was determined to run one on a pickup, I'd get a Briggs and Stratton engine and put a pump on it, linked to a small tank, set it in the bed and use it to run the hydraulic winch.
Have you ever been around heavy equipment, putting quick connects on to have it where you can move the winch around allows air in the system, and constant leaks. The volume of your steering pump is barely enough to power your winch and steering box, adding longer lines will burn it up.
